Men’s Health and Nutrition

Men actually store fat differently to women, as men age or put on weight they generally store the fat around their middle area, generally their stomach! As with women weight gain and fat is generally due to a poor diet and lack of exercise.  Storing weight around the waist line is the most dangerous area to store fat.  The larger your waistline the higher your risk of heart disease and stroke.

Eating a healthy diet of natural whole grains, vegetables, fruit, nuts, seed, legumes,are essential for a balanced diet to get vital vitamins and minerals.

Water

Breakfast

Skipping breakfast is not cool, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should be the largest meal of the day.  Start the day eating whole grains, proteins, cereals, lots of fibre and fruit.  This type of breakfast will sustain you throughout the day, slow releasing whole food.   Stay away from the dreaded fry ups! and junk food, they just fill you up with empty calories.  If you need to snack! snack on fruits, and nuts!

LUNCH

Lunch on the go try a protein sandwich, chicken, fish,  or peanut butter, with salad.  This will give you the muscle building protein will give you the energy to sustain exercise after work.  We must not forget to fit exercise in!

DINNER

Most people eat their largest meal in the evening, but after exercise or before bed it is not good practice to eat a large heavy meal.  Preferable a light meal before 8pm.  protein and a brightly coloured salad full of a variety of raw vegetables, dressed with extra virgin olive oil or balsamic vinegar dressing.  This way of eating helps to eliminate storing fat, especially around the stomach.
