Exercise is the 3rd Pillar of Health

Men’s Health and Nutrition

Men actually store fat differently to women, as men age or put on weight they generally store the fat around their middle area, generally their stomach! As with women weight gain and fat is generally due to a poor diet and lack of exercise.  Storing weight around the waist line is the most dangerous area to store fat.  The larger your waistline the higher your risk of heart disease and stroke.

Vitamins and Minerals

Eating a healthy diet of natural whole grains, vegetables, fruit, nuts, seed, legumes, are essential for a balanced diet to get vital vitamins and minerals.

Drink 2 glasses of water first thing in the morning helps to flush toxins from the body, followed by hot lemon and water before breakfast will help to kick start the liver.  Followed by 2 to 3 litres of water throughout the day.  (see water therapy).

Skipping breakfast is not cool, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should be the largest meal of the day.  Start the day eating whole grains, proteins, cereals, lots of fibre and fruit.  This type of breakfast will sustain you throughout the day, slow releasing whole food.   Stay away from the dreaded fry ups! and junk food, they just fill you up with empty calories.  If you need to snack! snack on fruits, and nuts!

Lunch on the go try a protein sandwich, chicken, fish,  or peanut butter, with salad.  This will give you the muscle building protein will give you the energy to sustain exercise after work.  We must not forget to fit exercise in!

Most people eat their largest meal in the evening, but after exercise or before bed it is not good practice to eat a large heavy meal.  Preferable a light meal before 8pm.  protein and a brightly coloured salad full of a variety of raw vegetables, dressed with extra virgin olive oil or balsamic vinegar dressing.  This way of eating helps to eliminate storing fat, especially around the stomach.

The Importance of Men’s Health Supplements.

Two of the biggest concerns for men as they get older are low libido or impotence and prostrate issues.   Even though there are lots of pharmaceutical remedies to solve these problems.  But with these drugs comes complicated side effects. There are lots of alternative solutions from a variety of supplements on the market which can address these problems, without the added complications.

Low Libido, Impotence and Prostate Concerns

Low libido and impotence are a real concern for millions of men around the world each year.  These concerns can be caused by a number of reasons, ranging from stress, anxiety, depression, premature ageing, depression, alcoholism, poor diet.  Dietary supplements, help by delivering  vital nutrients, that balance hormones in general particularly the sex hormones, promoting better circulation and blood flow, releasing more energy, therefore promoting confidence and relaxation, giving a more youthful outlook on life.

Super Food to the Rescue

There are top super foods on the market that can help with these challenges Acai Berry, Noni, Goji Berry, Pomegranite, Mangosteen which are great for anti-aging concerns as they are packed with Antioxidant, which will help with low libido, prostrate, etc.  Health supplements which contain L. Arginine, that contain essential amino acids, balancing the male hormones are also  great for the  clearing the arteries , heart and libido, and preventing inflammation, which is the main underlying  cause of most disease, including prostrate cancer.

The Importance of Exercise

2011 and there is a shift on the importance of male grooming and presentation.  And why not!  You guys want to look and smell good too!  What is good for the goose is good for the gander I say!   No seriously it is very difficult to find a balance on men’s health and it is some what  daunting, so many experts telling you this and telling you that.  It is all common sense really.  An apple a day keeps the doctor away and 30 minutes exercise will give you 5 extra years!

Weight Loss

Through busy lifestyles, family life, social commitments etc weight gain and obesity is a huge problem for most of us including men! getting to grips and taking control can be a major challenge.

Cardiovascular Training

The best way to lose weight and maintain it, is to find something that you like, enjoy, and can fit into your lifestyle without much trouble.  Because if you do not you will not stick to it.  Whatever you choose to do recommended is at least 30 minutes 3 to 5 days per week. You need to set yourself a fitness goal and pace yourself working towards your goal.

If you have a major weight problem  I would recommend a longer period if you can fit it into your schedule.  But whatever exercise routine you choose consistency is key.  If you value you life and value yourself this is a small price to pay.  When you consider how much time is spent in the pub, bars, and in front of the TV!  Also recommended for cariovascular health is L arginline.

Building Muscle

Body conditioning and building muscle is an important part of the male exercise routine, for health and fitness.  The more lean muscle you have, the faster you burn calories when you exercise and the faster your metabolism. It is also important for definition and posture and building strength.  Recommended is minimum 20 min per session every other day to get results.  A days rest between sessions allows the body to rest and recover.

There really is no excuse, if time is a issue, there are lots of good home equipment available, to have a gym at home, it is convenient and saves you time.  So getting into shape has never been easier!

Back Problems

Back problem is responsible for the largest number of  ab sentences in the work place  today.  And can a major problem for the individual as once the back becomes a problem it takes along time to repair sometimes years.  In some cases it can be a life time challenge  for many.  Support is very important to aid recovery and support discomfort.  Recommended is Ardyss men’s supportive garment that are specifically designed for back problem by an orthopedic surgeon.  This amazing constructive garment not only supports the back but can be worn as a supportive under garment to help flatten the stomach to give a trimmer contour to the body.  Also great as a protective support garment whilst exercising.  Lumbo Men – real support for Real Men!

Visible Signs of Ageing

There is so much competition and so much choice on the market, the male customer has now become a great commodity!  As more and more men seek to combat the visible signs of aging.

But of course as discussed earlier true anti-ageing starts from the inside with diet and super food supplements, on the outside with exercise.  There is no secret here.

To complete the equation we need to turn to a good skincare regime, to take care of the skin from the outside, in the form of cleansing, refining, moisturising, nourishing, protection, and conditioning.

Facial Exercise and Facial Massage

But first things first.  For true lasting maintenance apart from diet, is exercising for the body, the same is true for the face.  So the next step of recommendation is Facial Exercises or Facial Massage.

Achieve a natural face lift through facial exercise and facial massage.  For strengthening, conditioning, lifting of face, restoring toning, the connective tissues and muscles.  diminishing lines and wrinkle. (click on the links for facial exercise and facial massage).  The benefits are huge!

Free Radical Damage

As discussed, free radical damage is one of the major causes of ageing and ageing skin, think of an apple bitten into and left exposed to the air!  Yes it goes brown, that is exactly what happens to the body on the inside, we are literally rusting away.  Oxidation is a natural occurrence, as we are exposed to environment pollutants, which men are exposed to everyday, this can be devastating to the ageing of the skin.   Antioxidants  neutralises free radicals at a cellular level inside the body.  On the outside a good skincare routine is a necessity to repair and maintain  youthful looking skin.

When chosing a good anti-aging skincare range it is important to choose one that contains anti-oxidants and sunscreen protection, at least factor 15, factor 25 is better!  To protect the skin from UVF and  during the day.

Skin Type

It is important when chosing a skincare system to choose the right skincare for your skin type to get the best results and benefit from you skincare routine.

Normal/dry – Cleanse, revitalize/tone, moisturise – morning and evening.  Mask and exfoliate once a week. Night Cream and Eye Cream recommended

Combination/Oily – Cleanse, revitalise/tone, moisturise – morning and evening.  Mask twice a week exfoliate once a week.  Even though your skin is oily a moisturiser is still necessary, but it is very important to use the right moisturiser for your skin type.

Problem Skin – Cleanse, revitalise/tone,  moisturise – morning and evening.  Mask twice a week.  Do not exfoliate.  It will aggravate the problem.

Facials are not a luxury they are a necessity, once a month will keep your skin in ultimate condition.

Budget can play a role when choosing products. But you are worth it, most good  anti- ageing products products do last about 3 to 4 months.
